Today is quite bittersweet for me; in one regard, we are saying goodbye to a camera that was my faithful companion in my journey as a photographer for over 5 years, longer than I thought it would last. It shot well over 45,000 photos, very close to its supposed shutter life. The camera was great for what it was, and was such a step up for me having lived on borrowed point and shoots.
And on the flipside, this is hands down one of my favorite photos ever taken with my XTi. It was another foggy night, which I noticed by accident when I was walking by my front door late at night. I quickly went out and found some interesting things to shoot, but this tree with the multiple light sources behind it, just screamed to be captured. I can barely tell now, but this was a 3 shot exposure HDR, and it really brought out the different beams of light shinning through the fog. And the colors aren't edited, there were different light polls with bulbs at different color tempratures, giving the varrying colors of light you see in the photo. The white balance was set between the two extremes to give both a colored look.
Come tomorrow we see the first photo shot on my T4i, and while its not the most amazing subject, it is still some great photos captured around my house, using my new flash as well. So lets all say a fond farewell to the XTi, she was old and seriously beaten down, but she was a great camera for so very long.
Enjoy
