Leader Of The Pack

Trying to get these action shots was quite fun, especially once I switched to the 50mm Prime. I was pre focusing on a point in the road I was almost certain they would go over, to overcome the slower focus motor in the lens, and of course my cameras own limitations. It was a matter of timing it right with where I had focused, and hoping for the best. Also being able to shoot at f/8.0 and still keep a good enough shutter speed to freeze the actual bikers kept more of the scene in focus.

In hindsight I wish I had bumped the aperture up a bit more and let the shutter speed drop. I am surprisingly good at tracking objects (years of gaming maybe...) and even at slow shutter speeds can get at least the ride nice and sharp, giving the background more movement.
