A New Life

Ahh Roses, I honestly can't think of how many photos I have taken of them, but I do know its been quite a few. But oddly enough, one thing that I haven't done is really use them to show a concept, or shoot them in a more studio set up. So for what I hope is one of my last sets of rose photos (yeah right...) I came up with a nice little idea.

My mom has two rose bushes that grow at our house; one yellow rose bush that grows out front, and one red one in the back. She likes to often snip off roses from both, and put them in the house. She had a red one that was starting to lose its petals, and a yellow one that was just starting to bloom. So it popped into my head to do the transition. The red rose dying, the yellow coming alive around the red, and the yellow fully blossoming. And I even love how I came up with the names, its not just one name with a 1, 2, and 3 added to the end

The second image in this series shows the new life just starting to bloom. This was actually the original shot I was going for; a studio set-up rose shot with some red petals around it. It was only by accident that I got the first. This one also didn't get my usual lomo styling, and just got some color and balance adjustments, as well as a bit of a decreased contrast I love these days.
